Squash

The boys trying out squash for the first time. Mason REALLY wants to feed himself with that spoon in a major way. As you can see Ethan is the neat and tidy eater in comparison (for now).

A glimpse of the freezer full of food made by 2B

Mmmmm...Perfecto!

Give me that spoon

Apparently I did not make myself clear

Mmmmmmm

This squash stuff is good

Hey! That can't have been the last of it!

Over and over again!

Mason rolled from his back to his belly, took a few minutes to regroup, then rolled from his belly to his back! I am not going to say he's rolling both ways yet until he does it a few times in one day, but he did a great job of it today and we'll be keeping our eyes out for a repeat performance. He didn't just roll back the way he came but kept going - uh oh, I can see him now rolling from one end of the living room to the other! Watch out!

The future is so bright...

How cool are these shades? Our friends Billy and Jill from San Diego sent them to the boys (thanks guys!) and they sure are good for this Texas sunshine! Of course they need to grow into them a bit more, but they are getting close to fitting! Dad took the boys out for a stroll this morning because we are finally seeing some temps below 100! He was actually able to take them out at 9am instead of 7am or earlier (which is usually the only time that the heat is tolerable enough for two babies to be out and about for that long.)

Mason has hitched a ride on the Daddy Express before, but today was Ethan's turn. Check out that expression in the last photo - oh man are we in for some TROUBLE or what?!

Whoa there! I'll just hold onto these glasses to keep my balance!

Oh so you want me to smile do ya? I don't think so buddy.

Hee Hee. I totally have these adult people wrapped around my little finger.

The boys also tried solid food #2 today - summer squash. We have another winner! Big smiles as they were enjoying their new food experience and very sad looks when the bowls were empty! We would give summer squash and avocado a 10 finger rating (i.e. we had to suck on all of our fingers to make sure we got every bit of food off so we didn't waste a bit!)

And one more pic of Mason to end the post. For a boy that used to hate tummy time...now that he rolls over like a pro it's the only place he wants to be!

See that diaper back there on my bum? Oh yeah, it's a brand new one - nice and dry, just the way I like it! Pretty much my favorite thing (next to solid foods of course)

Growing like weeds!

We had our 4 month checkup today and here's the latest on how big we are getting!

Mason:
Height = 27 1/2 inches long (98% on the curve)
Weight = 17 pounds 5 ounces (90% on the curve)
Head circ. = 43.5 cm (80% on the curve)

Ethan:
Height = 25 1/2 inches long (75% on the curve)
Weight = 15 pounds 9 ounces (75% on the curve)
Head circ. = 43 cm (75% on the curve)

And we are happy to report that we are healthy and happy. We love giggling and squealing at very high pitches! :) And we are sleeping through the night - mom and dad think that is pretty fantastic!

Food - glorious food!!

We are finally able to start sampling all this stuff that we see mom and dad eating - we've been getting fairly jealous as our bottles are just same old same old, day in and day out. Today we got to try our first real food - avocados! We even tried out our high chairs for the first time!

Mason contemplated his avocados for a minute and then wanted to figure out how he could get them in his mouth and into his tummy as quickly as possible. Ethan was a bit apprehensive, and got a little frustrated at the end - he needs a little practice with the spoon, but he already started to get the hang of it the very next day! I think we're going to have some good eaters on our hands, especially with all the great food 2B cooked up! As you can see in the videos, the papparazi were present for this major event.

4 Months Old!

We are 4 months old today so we needed some "official photos" to document the day! Thank you Karen for the very cool onesies!!

Boys Will Be Boys

While 2B was working her behind off on the food, we boys were just having some fun. (Typical right?) :)

Mason after another successful roll

After all that time on the floor - the view from here is way better!

Dad...there is not enough room in my gym for the both of us!

Gabby imitating Mason? Or Mason imitating Gabby? You decide.

Gourmet food by Chef 2B

Who knew we would be so lucky as to have our own personal chef? 2B came to visit this week and was a baby food making factory! She made so many different yummy foods for us and froze them like ice cubes and even vacuum sealed them for us so they stay nice and tasty! Elizabeth and Uncle Nicu were down to visit for the weekend too so while they were here Elizabeth was her sous chef and helped make some of our delicious meals. We are so lucky - thank you 2B!! And thank you Elizabeth!

Tati was here to vist us too, but could not stay long because he had to get back to work, but we were happy to see him even if it was for a short while!

Rolling - The Movie

Finally, after 2 weeks of rolling, Mason allowed his rolling to be captured on video - it's a short one and not his most precise roll over, but it will do - especially since it seems every time I have out the video camera he stops everything. He is on his tummy in his crib every morning when we go get him now and whenever he's on the floor he just wants to roll over and show off his skills. He has even made it from tummy to back once too! He's trying to teach his little bro how to do it but so far Ethan just enjoys rolling on to his sides and checking things out from that angle!

The really BIG tub

The boys had their first dip in the neighborhood pool. Actually they had their first, second, and third - Friday night, Saturday night, and Sunday night because it was that big of a hit. They just love bobbing around in the water! Mason was taking turns between looking around at all the new stuff and concentrating on how many fingers he could fit in his mouth. Ethan was so relaxed he kept falling asleep. We wanted to introduce them to the pool early so that they would hopefully like it as they got bigger because this is Texas and we have very hot summers. Swimming is a great way to deal with the summer heat and better yet, we live across the street from the neighborhood pool. All we did was get them ready and carry them across the street - you can't beat that! Then it was bath time, bottles and off to bed. They slept so good!

More ZZZZZZs

Big news on the sleep front! Ethan slept completely through the night for the first time last night! He did not wake up once between 8pm and 6am. I had to check the clock twice to make sure I wasn't accidentally looking at the alarm setting - that I was reading the actual current time! Way to go Ethan!!!

Sunday meltdowns

You can't tell from these photos of the very perky Mr. Ethan, but boy was he a handful on Sunday! Refused to take any naps over 30 minutes and was overall cranky and irritable because of it - but these photos are between the meltdowns when he was FULL of smiles and energy. He can be pretty funny like that - full of laughs and giggles one minute - and then the world is ending the next - oh the drama! :)

I should be napping, but instead I'm hanging out in this pile of laundry

Those ridiculous parents of mine think this is going to wear me out and make me sleep - whatever!

A fun weekend!

We had another visit from friends this weekend and the boys had a blast (and were exhausted on Sunday to prove it!) We hit the Hula Hut for a second time - so yummy! Here are some photos from the weekend visit!

ZZZZZZs

Since I have not yet had time to look for the right baby books for us, I am trying to put down all of the "firsts" here in this blog so I can reference it later once I have time to look for baby books or make my own. So, I need to document another first for Mason! Last night he started a WONDERFUL trend for mom and dad - sleeping through the night!! He had been waking before then between 2am-3:30am every night for food. But his first full night was last night and he went from 6:30pm-5:30am!

*Updated 8/12/09: Mason has now gone 9 consecutive nights from 7pm-5am(ish)! Good boy Mason!! And Ethan has had 2 nights in a row that have shown some very good progress in that area as well! The reflux has really kept him from getting good restful sleep but I think we sort of have his meds figured out now and he is really starting to take some steps in the right direction! Here's hoping he joins his brother in that club very soon!

Rollin, rollin, rollin

Mason rolled over for the first time today!! And because he wanted to prove it was not a fluke, he did it 3 more times!! He had been rolling over to his left side and hanging out there sucking his thumb for several days and today he just decided he would see what else he could do - because laying on his tummy and sucking his thumb sounded like fun too! Of course I didn't get it all on video because he's a big fan of doing nothing we want him to do once the video camera turns on. But I'll try to see if I can get it on camera at some point. **Update: He rolled over again Monday morning on his activity mat - and then decided to try it out in his crib at nap time too. He's hooked!

And Ethan, not wanting to be outdone in this milestone, has started rolling onto his side as well. I put him on his back next to Mason on a blanket on the floor and I stepped away for a minute and when I came back, this is how I found them :)
