This year we decided to do something outside of the house to both keep it easy for us and to give Mason and Ethan and their friends something really fun to do. The boys have regularly attended Gymboree classes since they were about 16 months old, so we knew it would be a place where they would instantly be comfortable and we know it's something they enjoy and that most toddlers their age would enjoy as well.
We had a fun group at the party including a total of 16 other toddlers and their parents. 2B, Bebop, Auntie Lisa and Cousin Elizabeth also flew in for the celebration.
A visit to the doctor's office bright and early this morning. Even though we were the first patients of the day and didn't have to wait, it still took a while because we have to do everything twice (and with two year olds which is a challenge), but everything looks good and we've been cleared for the next 6 months! :)
We started off with the weigh-in - this time we got to keep clothes and diapers on - shoes were the only thing we had to take off - SO much easier! Plus they got to stand on the scale which was easier especially after they both fell for the "show us your belly button!" to keep them from holding on to the scale and messing up the measurement. Heights were hard to get because they had them lay down on the table to get those and they were not happy about that (probably because they thought it was shot time), so they were very squirmy and disgruntled. Then we got the actual shot and they were truly disgruntled. But this was also the first time I brought lollipops for shot time so it was all better very quickly. And yes, I know it was early in the morning, but I think all intramuscular injections deserve a lollipop. I hated getting shots as a kid but I still fondly remember getting lollipops afterwards, so the tradition continues.
Cinnamon Rolls and strawberries for breakfast. Opened a few gifts in the morning. Spring party in the neighborhood: petting zoo, pony rides, egg hunt. Back home for some lunch (chicken nuggets and mac & cheese - though we still put green beans on the plate even if it was their birthday - we can still hope). A nice 2 1/2 hour nap for Ethan and 3 hour nap for Mason. Woke up from nap and opened more presents...lots of fun new Thomas & Friends gear for the train table! Mom got to work putting together a new train track (so much more fun with the new bridges and such) while the boys watched one of their favorite videos: Baby Einstein Baby Noah - they just love their animals! Pizza for dinner. Followed by a trip to Marble Slab for some ice cream in waffle cones. Ended the evening with a bath using the new tub crayons from Auntie Meg (thank you!) Then they requested "Go Diego" to watch (because you can't have enough animals) while having our evening milk, brushed our teeth and off to bed!
Opening our first present of the day, from Auntie Meg.
Thank you Auntie Meg! We have had so much fun with our cool new bath stuff!
The petting zoo is always fun. Always makes you want to take a bath in hand sanitizer afterwards, but still always fun :) Ethan was particularly fond of this hen that he kept carrying around.
Mason loved the pony ride...hmmmm...future cowboy perhaps? He cried and cried when it was over, but we also knew he did not have the patience to wait in line again. Ethan liked looking at the pony, but wanted nothing to do with actually sitting on it.
Our train table with the new Thomas setup.
ICE CREAM!!!
Video of the VERY serious ice cream cone eating. WARNING: Do not click on these if watching someone eat an ice cream cone grosses you out :)
