Potty Business

Though I have (had) every intention of waiting to tackle the monster I fear the most (potty training two boys at once) until they were closer to 3 years old, these two have other ideas...so I guess we will just see where this goes.

I picked Mason up from school on Tuesday (3 days ago) to find out that he had told his teachers on a number of occasions that he had to go potty, then he got on the potty and actually went to the bathroom every time. After one week of school he has seen some of the other kids in his class who are potty training and I guess he didn't want to be left out of all of that fun.

The teacher warned me that I should probably get a potty seat for the big potty at home because that is what Mason wanted to use, and that would give him the opportunity to do it outside of school as well if he was so inclined.

Nothing happened that night but the next morning Mason approached me to ask if he could "make pee-pee in the potty", so off to the bathroom we went and wouldn't you know that little bugger went to the potty! He asked again before we left for school, continued to go while at school (with just some dampness in his diaper in between potty trips) and then he went #2 in the potty at naptime. For the past 3 days he has gone several times, but has not asked me frequently enough that I think he is ready to full-on potty train. Still, we are quite proud of his initiative.

And Ethan, not to be outdone, has now gone #1 on the little potty chair several times (he started Wednesday). He sometimes wants to sit on the big potty, but doesn't really want to do anything on it, only the little potty instead.

At 2 years, 4 months, I thought I had at least another 8 months to go, but I guess they have other plans. Either that or they want the next 8 months to be miserable for me as they drag this process out :) I'm sure it's probably the latter...

1 week down!

So far so good. Mason has not shed one tear in the first 3 days. He has apprently loved every single moment of school and is happy at drop off and pickup.

Ethan cried at drop off on Wednesday and Thursday, but was happy both days at pick-up and the teachers said that his crying has lessened more each day. I think they are both going to love it eventually, I just think Ethan might take a little time to fully adjust to the drop-off.

1st Day of Preschool

Today was the first day of school for the boys! It was supposed to be last Tuesday, but Mason (and Brett and I) were sick so we had to postpone :(  The boys are going to attend Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this year and are in the Caterpillars class with Ms. Joanna and Ms. Caitlin.  It's going to be a great year!

The first day there were no tears at drop off and everyone was happy at pick-up, but the teachers told me Ethan had cried on various occasions during the day, at which time Mason always gave him hugs to comfort him. It's so nice to have a brother to be there for you when things are scary!
